Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 8 September 2025 — The Foundation for Tomorrow (F4T) is proud to announce its selection as a finalist for the prestigious 2025 Local Adaptation Champions Awards, organized by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA). Now in its fourth year, the awards celebrate locally led initiatives that address the escalating impacts of climate change. F4T has been recognized in the Health category for its transformative work in strengthening the health and psychosocial resilience of vulnerable communities in Kenya facing climate-induced stressors.

The 2025 Local Adaptation Champions Awards honor 20 finalists across four categories—Citizen Science, Health, Nature-based Solutions, and Women’s Livelihoods—representing innovative, scalable, and community-driven solutions from around the globe. F4T’s inclusion among these global leaders underscores its commitment to empowering Kenyan communities to adapt to the growing challenges of climate change, such as extreme weather events, food insecurity, and mental health stressors.

F4T’s Impact in Kenya

The Foundation for Tomorrow (F4T) has been a beacon of hope for Kenya’s most vulnerable populations, particularly in regions heavily affected by climate change. Through community-led programs, F4T integrates health and psychosocial support to build resilience against climate-induced challenges. By equipping communities with tools to manage physical and mental health in the face of floods, droughts, and other environmental stressors, F4T fosters sustainable adaptation strategies that empower individuals and families.

F4T’s approach emphasizes local leadership, ensuring that solutions are tailored to the unique needs of each community. From training local health workers to providing psychosocial support for climate-related trauma, F4T’s initiatives address both immediate needs and long-term resilience. By prioritizing mental health alongside physical well-being, F4T is creating a holistic model for climate adaptation that is replicable in other vulnerable regions. “We are deeply honored to be recognized as a finalist for the 2025 Local Adaptation Champions Awards,” said [Insert F4T Representative Name], [Insert Title] of Foundation for Tomorrow. “This recognition validates the tireless efforts of our team and the communities we serve, who are at the forefront of adapting to climate change. A Global Stage for Local Solutions

The 20 finalists, selected through a rigorous, transparent review process by international adaptation specialists, represent a diverse range of initiatives from every corner of the world. From restoring ecosystems in India to empowering women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, these projects demonstrate that the most effective climate solutions often emerge from the communities most impacted by climate change.

The GCA’s Local Adaptation Champions Awards highlight the critical role of locally led adaptation in addressing global climate challenges. “The quality of applications this year was extraordinary, with inspiring stories of determination and impact from around the globe,” said Anju Sharma, Global Lead on Locally Led Adaptation at GCA. “These finalists remind us that the most powerful climate solutions are already taking shape in communities, led by people who are living the realities of climate change every day.”F4T’s work in Kenya stands alongside other remarkable initiatives, such as community-led early warning systems in Madagascar, solar-powered water solutions in Nigeria, and forest restoration efforts in Kenya’s Mau Forest. Together, these projects showcase the ingenuity and resilience of communities on the frontlines of climate change.

Looking Ahead to COP30

A Technical Advisory Group of leading adaptation experts will now conduct a final review of the 20 finalists, with a high-level jury selecting one winner in each category. The winners will be announced at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, in November 2025. Each winner will receive €15,000 from the Adaptation Fund, along with opportunities to share their expertise and scale their impact through global learning and exchange platforms. For F4T, this recognition is a milestone in its mission to transform lives in Kenya.
